Site Directory
-
This is a site directory with explanations of what is discussed on some of the most important conceptual pages on this site. This page will help those of you looking for the basics on Hypoism use the site more effectively. Once you have read some of these pages I hope you will obtain the book, Hypoic's Handbook, for the complete picture of Hypoism. Once that is accomplished, the rest of the web site will make a whole lot more sense since it is a whole new way to approach and perceive addictions. I do not discuss specific interventions, treatments, and recoveries on this web site because they can't be understood until the entire paradigm is understood completely. This only comes from reading the book. The unlisted pages are discussions of some less critical aspects of the paradigm that can be perused and explored at your leisure. Remember, what holds for one addiction, holds for all. A list of addictions is at the bottom of the home page. This is a disease that causes addictions and other symptoms. The drugs, and other specific addictions are not the problem. The problem is the disease and the recovery is from the disease. Solutions to addictions be they personal solutions or societal solutions only come from understanding the disease and all its manifestations.

The purpose of the book:
-
This is a chapter from the book and discusses the purposes of the book, how I go about them, and how I arrive at the conclusions summarized in the chapter, "The Outcomes of Hypoic's Handbook."

An overview of the problem of addictions today:
-
This page is the inside cover of the book, Hypoic's Handbook, briefly reviews the current problems in addictionology today, and describes how to conceptually resolve this mess; with a change in paradigm to one that actually fits the realities of addiction, including the good and valid science while leaving out the bad, pseudo, and pathological science that abounds in addictionology and psychiatry today.

-
Definitions of the new vocabulary of Hypoism:
-
This page defines and describes the words hypoism, hypoic, addiction, FOKS, recovery, addictor and some of the history of their development. Some of these words are new to the addiction lexicon. Others are completely redefined according to the Hypoism paradigm. These definitions are crucial for reading and understanding the new concepts discussed on this web page and their implications.

The paradigm vacuum in addictions today
-
This page discusses the reasons why addictions today are such a mess - the absence of a valid and complete addiction paradigm that puts all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together. Hypoism completes the puzzle and is thus able to provide a sheme for understanding all addictions and the requirements for recovery. The latter is discussed only in the book, Hypoic's Handbook, because to fully comprehend the recovery, the entire paradigm must be understood in detail.

Aiming at an understanding of addictions
-
This page gives you the basic neurobiological requirements for how addictors (substances, behaviors, people, and beliefs) become an addiction and in whom. It also summarizes the requirements for something being an addictor.

The evolutionary origin of the brain mechanism from where addictions arise.
-
This page discusses the evolutionary origin of the brain mechanism from which all addictions arise. Without a full comprehension of this system in normals and how humans came to possess it, one is unable to envision the altered system from which addictions originate. This discussion shows where the genes causing addictions in only certain people, called hypoics, work.

History of the Development of Hypoism
-
This page gives a brief historical overview of the development of the Hypoism paradigm in the wake of the P/R paradigm (the current incorrect addiction paradigm).

A list of important addiction genetics studies:
-
I have listed the abstracts from some new and valid addiction epidemiologic studies that delineate the crucial genetic links to a variety of addictions including drugs, people, and behaviors addictions. That addictions are so highly genetic forces us to look into the brain tissue for the mechanism where genes act to produce addictions. That addictions are highly genetic, not a little or somewhat, but highly, demands a brain mechanism in which altered genes (alleles) work to cause addictions. This genetic imperative is exactly what is missing in the current and incorrect addiction paradigm while being provided by Hypoism. Without this genetic link, addictions can't be explained to originate the way they do in real life. The absence of this link and the mechanism in which it works, as in the current paradigm, is the reason addictionology is failing miserably to comprehend and deal with addictions today.

The current invalid pathophysiological approach to addictions and how Hypoism cures this:
-
This article discusses the absence of a rational pathophysiology of addictions today where specific addictions are called diseases, and why and how Hypoism is the real disease behind all of them. This article goes into the sequence of events of addiction in fair amount of detail and organizes them conceptually as they relate to a specific and real brain mechanism. This is the skeleton of the conceptual key to the complete paradigm which is, however, described in full detail in the book along with its behavioral, recovery, and policy implications.

A very famous hypoic family:
-
This article shows how Hypoism infiltrates even the most famous of families, the Kennedy family, and shows the almost infinite variations of Hypoism amongst them and how multifarious and insidious the manifestations of Hypoism can be, positively and negatively.

How the NIAAA has perpetrated conceptual fraud on congress and us for the sake of their biased paradigm:
-
This article shows how the National Institute on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse has willfully misled congress and Americans for years in order to maintain its control on alcoholism and to further its biased ends. The article is just one example of many in my book and on my web page of how addiction experts, because of their personal biases about addiction, have perpetuated an invalid addiction paradigm for selfish personal reasons. The article discusses why a revolution, from the top down, is required to realize the true basis of addictions as well as to educate the public about them for the sake of bringing to the fore a reality based paradigm of addictions which will change the face of addictions around the globe for all time. Moreover, until this occurs, and demanded by the people because the current system will never change itself, we will suffer the consequences of continued addictions indefinitely. Another article, listed as #15 under the Hypoism Magazine section of this page, shows exactly the same thing is occurring at the NIDA under Leshner, and with the help of media, conventional addictionology, wealthy and powerful foundations, advertizing agencies, and treatment providers, etc.

How the media is assisting the current incorrect paradigm to flourish at the expense of addicts:
-
This article is an example how the press and other media are censoring Hypoism and assisting the current incorrect paradigm to thrive and have its way on addicts. It shows how the current neurobiology is being misused by addiction "experts" to change and control addicts to their detriment rather than freeing them as Hypoism does. Hypoism frees addicts while the current paradigm perpetuates addictions in its illadvised attempts to control them. It is a good example of why the two paradigms are diametrically opposed and why the current paradigm only causes more rather than less pain for addicts and the country. The umteen pages of letters to the editors of the NY Times are further examples of my ignored attempts to inform the Times and its readers about the benefits of Hypoism.

Outcomes of Hypoism and Hypoic's Handbook:
-
Lastly, this is a rundown of all the changes made by Hypoism. These are conceptual and paradigmatic, scientific, massive recovery for all hypoics, harm reduction, decriminalization and destigmatization, and overall, the public understanding and acceptance of Hypoism as an human entity. Hypoism puts addictions on an equal footing with all biological diseases.

How I happened to write the book:

Part of an introduction to my book explaining the circumstances for my journey into the science of addictions and how it resulted in discovering Hypoism and writing the book.

How to get a copy of the book:
-
How to order a book. Please remember, the material on the web page is just a superficial description of the detailed contents presented in the book, especially the science, the implications of the science, and how recovery and public policy changes are derived from this science. The web page is not a substitute for the book in any way.
