Welcome to the Boalt Hall Chapter of the American Constitution Society! Upcoming events: Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 12:45 in Room 100: Brad Seligman. Mr. Seligman is lead counsel in the largest class action suit ever to be certified: a gender-discrimination suit against Wal-Mart. He is also lead counsel of the Impact Fund, and will be discussing the role of lawyers in nonprofit organizations promoting justice and equality as well as the Wal-Mart case specifically.
Wednesday the 14th at 4pm: Keg in the Courtyard! Take a break from Torts, OCIP, and writing requirements by sharing great conversation and cold beer with your friends and classmates.
Thursday the 15 at 12:45: First General Meeting! Lunch provided, in room 115. Brad Seligman Wednesday for lunch! Beer at the ACS Brew-HaHa Wednesday afternoon! And then come on Thursday (another free lunch!) to learn about our other plans for the upcoming year, and how you can join in: opportunities to work with local lawyers on legal scholarship, organizing ACS events, and our West Coast Regional Conference in the spring.

19, 2004: Judge

11, 2004: Beth Nolan (Senior Partner at Crowell & Moring and former
head White House Counsel) and Cheryl Mills (Senior Vice President
for Operations and Administration at NYU, and first African-American
deputy White House Counsel) spoke at Boalt about their experience
in the Clinton White House. Above:

19, 2004: The case of Elk Grove Unified School District v.
Newdow first gained notoriety when the Ninth Circuit struck down
the school district's policy of leading elementary school students
in the Pledge of Allegiance, which includes the phrase "Under
God", as a violation of the Establishment Clause. Boalt ACS recently
held a moot court for the case, featuring the plaintiff Michael Newdow
(representing himself in the real Supreme Court as well) and Prof.
Vikram Amar representing Elk Grove. Click
