Reception of New Members
In the United Church of Christ (U.C.C.), the denomination of Plymouth, people unite with a local church by baptism and confirmation or by profession of faith and baptism. They also unite by reaffirmation of faith or letter of transfer from other Christian churches. Before joining Plymouth, prospective new members are asked to participate in two orientation sessions. These sessions are opportunities to get better acquainted with Plymouth and the U.C.C.
Baptism
"Baptism is both God's gift and our human response to that gift." Baptism is not only a personal celebration in the lives of the individual candidates and their families, but also a central celebration in the life of the local church which embodies that universal church in a particular place. In the United Church of Christ, people are baptized either as children or adults. If you would like to schedule a baptism at Plymouth, call one of our pastors at the church office.
Orientation
The next orientation session, sponsored by the Board of Membership, will be held in September of 2009. Child care is available. If you are interested in joining Plymouth, or simply wish to learn more about the church, please mark the appropriate box on the Ritual of Fellowship pad in the pew, or contact Kay Koch in the church office.
