Born in post war Germany of concentration camp surviving parents, Miriam immigrated to America with her family in 1962. Educated both in the U.S.A. and Europe, she has lived and taught in many parts of the world: in Israel, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South America and Mexico etc. Her permanent home and studio are located in Crown Heights, New York.
Her life has been a kaleidoscope of activities: She was the president of Music Culture International, a company she founded in 1982 and lead until 1995. During that time, she wrote, directed, hosted and produced various radio and television shows in Europe, all dedicated to the advancement of young musicians. Her writings on opera and music subjects have been featured in many trade magazines. She produced for international CD labels, taking lost music from Russia and the Ukraine and presenting it to the world at large.
She was executive producer and director of a feature film dedicated to the life and 100th birthday of Benjamino Gigli, the world renowned Opera Singer in Italy. She returned to America in 1995.
In 1999, she authored the international best seller on vocal technique: “The Voice; A Spiritual Approach to Singing, Speaking and Communicating” (three editions to date, including the 2005 “Revealed Version”). In 2000, the CD, “The First Lesson” was released.
Her teaching career spans over 28 years and her intimate involvement with vocal technique and vocal reconstruction began more than 35 years ago.
She was the founder of the “International Academy of Voice and Stage Inc.” a non-profit organization, dedicated to the advancement of Bel Canto and Giro Vocal Motion vocal technique, which she developed and teaches. Her work in the field of vocal pedagogy has been featured on ABC, World News Now, PBS, etc.
Her fine art career spans over 30 years, with prestigious exhibitions in the galleries and museums in U.S.A., Italy, Hungary, the Ukraine, Switzerland, Holland, Mexico etc. Her works have been critically acclaimed and she is the recipient of a number of important and prestigious grants for her work in holographic and three dimensional glass fusions.
Miriam spends her time teaching privately in her studio, lecturing, conducting Master classes at Universities and privately hosted events around the globe.
“Soul Reflections,” A Personal Odyssey in Poetry and Paintings, was released in March 2003 and the CD with originally composed music by cellist Mme. Johanna Perron will be released in April 2003.
"Coming Home" her new book released in 2007 is a serious work examining the spiritual journey of the author and probes into the deepest crevaces of her being, depicting her total emotional gamut holding back nothing. One piece at a time she bares her soul....yours will NOT remain untouched.....
Her articles and poetry have been published in many national and international publications. She has been named distinguished poet by the International Society of Poets since 2002 and her poetry has been in the Publications of Poets and Poems in 2003 and 2005. In 2005/6/7 she was a featured poet in the International Who’s Who in Poetry.
