Owatonna

Owatonna, (Oh-wa-taw-na) “Jewel of the Prairie” is a beautiful tree filled city on the edges of the Straight river and Minnesota’s beautiful prairie lands. The city has a population of 22,000 and is centrally and conveniently located 60 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul along Interstate 35 and just 38 miles from Rochester Minnesota. Owatonna boasts one of the strongest out-state economies in Minnesota. Owatonna is home to more than 40 industrial business firms. First rate public and private school systems, plus the Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and Minnesota Riverland Technical College, offer post-secondary and higher education programs. One of the city’s most popular recreation areas is Kaplan’s Woods Parkway, which offers 225 acres for hiking, biking, jogging, picnicking and cross-country skiing. Within the scenic Parkway, Lake Kohlmier offers swimming, sailing, fishing and canoeing. Excellent golfing is available at public and private courses, several of which are staffed by full-time golf instructors. For the tennis enthusiast, both outdoor and indoor facilities provide opportunities for year-round participation. Because many residents love music and the arts, the Owatonna Arts Center displays the work of many local and national artists. A unique Sculpture Garden attracts visitors, as does the Little Theatre of Owatonna, which puts on several dramatic, comic or musical productions each year. Cabela’s Outfitters and conventions attract more than one million outdoor enthusiasts to the area annually.

A BC/BE Internal Medicine or Family Practice physician is needed to staff an Emergency Department with a volume of 10,000 annual visits. The Emergency physicians are members of Owatonna Clinic- Mayo Health System, a 40-physician multi-specialty group representing the specialties of Family Practice, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Dermatology. Visiting specialists are also on staff in Otolaryngology and Urology. The Emergency Room consists of a central nurses station and 8 patient exam rooms with specialized rooms set up for Cardiology, Orthopedics, ENT, GYN, and Mental Health. Owatonna Clinic is the only physician healthcare group in Owatonna, MN and is an affiliate organization of Mayo Health System, Mayo Clinic’s regional primary and secondary care network. Mayo Health System is comprised of 13 organizations, with 615 physicians, practic! ing in 60 communities in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Qualifications: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics with proven patient management skills. Demonstrated leadership skills needed for: - Program development - Supervision, training and coaching - Quality review and improvement - ED staffing - ACLS required. ATLS and PALS desired. Current Staffing: 4 full time physicians BC in Family Medicine, 1 full time physician BC in Internal Medicine Shifts augmented by Owatonna Clinic Family Practice physicians and EnhanceMed physicians (Mayo Clinic Rochester residents and fellows) Compensation: - Hourly rates for patient care in Owatonna Clinic Urgent Care and Owatonna Hospital Emergency Room - Monday-Friday evening shift Emergency Room $78.00 per hour - Saturday-Sunday Emergency Room $84.00 per hour - Holiday Emergency Room $120.00 per hour - Daytime Emergency Room/Urgent Care Shift(s)$70.00 per hour - Based on a fulltime FTE the potential annual income is $154,000 Rate paid for hours worked includes compensation for vacation, CME, holiday and sick pay. Incentive pay is calculated based on a productivity formula. Excellent benefits including full malpractice coverage are offered.
